MS Office means Microsoft Office. It's a name of project which explains all the professional application softwares. Although under this project various applications work but common applications are : -

1. MS word
2. MS Excel
3. MS PowerPoint

MS Excel

Introduction : MS Excel means Microsoft Excel. It works under office package. This is introduced by Microsoft Corporation Limited. It is also known as a spread sheet application because it consists in number of column & rows.
According to Sir Berry, "Excel is a calculation device with with its dynamic function.

Elements of Excel

1) Title bar - It appears on the top location of the documents, which explains the title of current exist file.

2) Ribbon - It's an important element of each office application because it contains the various commands to operate the command application.
Example: Home, Data......

3) Formula bar - Under this bar we can easily execute any function of Excel for calculation.

4) Status bar - To display the entire status of current exist file or working file, like - number of section, number of sheet, number of column & rows etc.

Function of Excel

1) Sum - Two add two or more digit values with the help of cell reference.
Syntax:  =sum(cell address) (enter)

2) Product - To multiply two or more digit values with the help of cell reference.
Syntax:  =product(cell address) (enter)

3) Average - To calculate the average of selected cells.
Syntax:  =average(cell address) (enter)

4) Max - To return to the maximum value from the selected range cells.
Syntax:  =max(cell address) (enter)

5) Min - To return to the minimum value from the selected range cells.
Syntax:  =min(cell address) (enter)

6) Count - To count the filled cells of a worksheet.
Syntax:  =count(cell address) (enter)

7) Countif - To count the specific character value.
Syntax:  =countif(cell address,"character") (enter)

8) Upper - To return to the upper case of Alphabetical order.
Syntax:  =upper("word/sentence") (enter)

9) Lower - To return to the lower case of Alphabetical order.
Syntax:  =lower("word/sentence") (enter)

10) Proper - To capitalize the first character of each word.
Syntax:  =proper("words or text string") (enter)

11) Len - To count the length of text string.
Syntax:  =len("text string") (enter)

12) VLookup - It stands for Vertical Look up, this function is used to return the display the entire record just only with the help of code value.
Syntax:  =VLookup("Look up value, table array, column index number, look up true/false")

13) Validation - To set the validity criteria of a table according to given condition, like :-  is equal to
                              is greater than
                              is less than
                              between
Note : In this command you can also insert a message for selected cells.

14) Goal seek - By this command you can fill the rest of amount for target cell.

15) Scenario manager - By this command you can set the future prediction value for the target cell.

16) Data table - By this command you can set the value in manipulate process. In other words we can say we can multiply with % value for the selected criteria.

17) Sub total - It gives the result for entire table in individual total & grand total.

18) Spelling & Grammar - To check the spelling and grammartical mistakes from the entire paragraph.
       Shortcut key is F7

19) Thesaurus - To set the synonym words for the selected text string.
        Shortcut key is Shift + F7

20) Comment - By this command you can give the overview about any topic or content.

21) Protect sheet - By this command you can protect the entire sheet with the help of password.

22) Protect workbook - It locks the entire worksheet with the help of password.

23) Track change - It is an important command of spreadsheet application because if anybody make change in your current existing worksheet, so it can easily display all the changes with date and time.
